What is Shin Ki/New Spirit Ju Jitsu?.
Shin
Ki is exactly as it's name implies, New Spirit, founded by Sensei Robert
Sims 5th Dan. He has over twenty years experience in martial arts, and has
gained the respect of all other martial artists who have both trained with
or under him. As you already know the Japanese held their arts a secret for
many Centuries, Sensei Sims has taken a lot of the formality out of Ju
Jitsu, unlike most other Associations, and uses pure technique to overcome
an opponent.
New
Spirit School Of Ju Jitsu is the name adopted by Sensei Ramsdale for his
clubs, we are now a fully independent martial arts school . Since
becoming independent, we have gone from strength to strength, class sizes
are growing, and we have thriving adult classes, with a number of excellent
lady students amongst them. The continued growth of the classes is providing
some excellent new Black Belts, and many of these are now becoming
proficient instructors in their own right!.
Both
groups are based in North Derbyshire and currently Sensei Sims runs Shin Ki
classes at two different locations on three days, and Sensei Ramsdale runs
classes at two different locations on three different days. The days and
times of the classes are listed below, some classes are for Juniors or
Seniors only, and others are mixed classes, for further details please ring
the instructors at the phone numbers listed, or send them an Email.

On
Sunday 25th February 2001 a weapons course was held by New Spirit Ju Jitsu
at Pilsley Miners Welfare for juniors of Brown Belt and above, and adults of
any grade. The event was well attended, and everyone seemed to have a good
time. The course lasted three hours with a break half way through for
refreshments provided by the Welfare staff. I recorded a few clips with my
camcorder, and have taken a number of pictures off the video tape - these
can be seen on the course photos page.
So
far, in 2001 we have two demonstrations arranged, as usual at the two
schools local to the Pilsley club.

New
Spirit prides itself on the quality of it's instruction, and the
responsibility of it's members, we have six instructors with NVQ level 1
Coaching Certificates, and two with NVQ level 2 Coaching Certificates. On
October 6th 2001, eleven members (1st Kyu and above) attended a First Aid
course run by St John's Ambulance and now hold First Aid Certificates. We
hope to attend more advanced First Aid courses in the future, the next is
provisionally planned for early 2002.
All
students (and the clubs) are insured through
NAKMAS, a National Governing Body for
Martial Arts in the UK, each student receives a New Spirit record book and
an insurance slip, which is updated yearly and inserted into their record
book.
Sensei
Ramsdale now has his own Internet account, so can be reached via E-mail
directly on the link above, he is also now hosting his own Website, and
(like myself) has his own domain name, and can be found at 'http://www.newspirit.org.uk'.
New
Spirit now also have a Ken Jutsu (sword techniques) section, taught by
Darren Ramsdale 4th Dan, he holds classes at Pilsley Miners Welfare after
the Ju Jitsu classes on Monday evenings.
